“I go cut my coat oversize this year.”
That line from the trending Akonuche song by @iampriesst makes me smile every time it shows up on my feed.
This year, my clients and partners will enjoy working with me while we achieve serious business goals.
My mandate is to be a Blessing (Ibukunoluwa means ‘Blessings of God’). My work reflects that, and I’ve struggled sometimes to communicate this in a work environment, especially in my Enterprise Sales role.
Because ‘Sales People’ have a bad rep, and potential clients are sceptical – I get that, and I truly understand.
So this year, I’ve switched things around. I make my commitment to my clients upfront and only work with clients who want exceptional results in a fun, professional environment.
I’m a Blessing to you and your organisation. Better believe it! 😁😁
Sales and business development are not always fun by default.
– Cold outreach. Guards are already up.
– Introductory calls. Sometimes it feels like, “Don’t waste my time.”
– Negotiations. Nobody wants to be cheated.
– Execution. When things go wrong, weak trust can break everything.
So this year, my oversized coat is to provide for my clients:
– Extra care.
– More clarity.
– More trust.
– And yes, more fun.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
– Cold outreach: I’ll lead with value and be clear about what I’m offering.
– Introductory calls: Genuine curiosity and real interest in your business goals. I’m coming with ideas, strategies, and insights that will grow your business, even if we don’t work together.
– Negotiations: Win-win or nothing.
– Execution: Built on trust and a shared commitment to outstanding results.
If we’ve worked together before, I hope this was your experience. This year, I’m taking it up another level.
It also means I won’t have the capacity to work with people who don’t enjoy a collaborative, creative, fun and human way of achieving results, especially in a challenging media landscape.
If you’re curious about what I currently do, here it is:
I help organisations communicate with hard-to-reach corporate and government leaders, decision-makers, and HNIs at scale, when they’re travelling through Africa-connected routes.
