God’s promises never fail

promises

There’s a lot of uncertainty and forced changes in the marketplace right now. I’d like to share three things that are helping me at this time and I hope you’ll find them useful too.

1.) Remembering that Joseph (from the bible) went to the palace from prison.

I was discussing with my brother yesterday about this part of the bible. I imagined that when Joseph walked into Pharaoh’s palace, some people did not know his name.

Person A: Who is that?

Person B: Oh, it’s the prisoner. Apparently he wants to attempt interpreting the king’s dream too.

Joseph did not have the time to:

  • Clean up his image as a prisoner
  • Clear his name or reputation
  • Gain experience first that can mask the fact that he’s been in prison.
  • Get additional skills, training or certification
  • Go to prep school for 2 years on how to behave and fit in the royal palace (read industry)

Just showing up was all that was required.

Everything he needed, he already had. Anything he doesn’t have, he didn’t need to get that breakthrough.

You too might just need to show up. Don’t delay!

I don’t know how long the conversation was between Joseph and Pharaoh, but imagine that the person that initially asked about who Joseph was passed by again and asked

Person A: Is he not finished?

Person B: He’s done with the King. He is our boss now!

2.) God is faithful.

This beautiful song is a timely reminder. I’ll encourage you to listen to it

3.) There are lessons to learn from experts.

What do you do to keep your career on track when you accidentally find yourself in:

>>> a new industry you have little to no knowledge about?

>>> a new role you did not prepare for?

>>> a new job to make ends meet?

>>> a new reality different from what you envisioned or planned for your career?

Knowing how to manage change, especially sudden change is important to achieve long term career success.

On the episode of Passionless Stories, Yemi Faseun, top 150 Global HR Influencer, and Africa HR Thought Leader will be my guest to share insights on these and more.
